Biography of Ajarn Pleng Boonyuen - Master of Wicha

Ajarn Pleng Boonyuen, one of the most renowned Kalawats (lay sorcerers) of Thailand, was widely revered as the “Jom Kamang Wet Mahasaneh Haeng Daen Isaan,” meaning Northeast Thailand’s Most Adept Sorcerer. His mastery of wicha (sacred knowledge) not only brought him great fame but also provided immense spiritual help to people seeking guidance, protection, and solutions to life's challenges.

Early Life and Ordination

Ajarn Pleng was born on June 7, B.E. 2460 (1917 AD) in Ampur Thatoom, Surin Province, a region steeped in traditional spirituality. In his youth, Ajarn Pleng developed a deep interest in politics and became sympathetic to Communist ideals, which eventually led him to flee into the jungle to avoid persecution. It was during this time that he encountered Phra Ajarn Pha, a Cambodian monk and master of Cambodian wicha, which would prove to be life-changing for him.

Impressed by the monk’s vast knowledge and abilities, young Pleng became a disciple and, after years of studying wicha, ordained as a monk under Phra Ajarn Pha's guidance. For more than a decade, Ajarn Pleng ventured on a tudong (pilgrimage), traveling across Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia, perfecting his practice in Arkhom (Thai occult sciences) and meditation, often in dangerous and isolated forests. He became known for his powerful kongkrapan (invulnerability), which protected him from dangers like venomous cobras and relentless swarms of mosquitoes.

Mastery in Wicha and the Creation of Phong Prai

During his pilgrimage, Ajarn Pleng became proficient in Wicha Phong Prai (a form of magic using materials from human remains) and crafted powerful amulets known as Kreung Rang, blending sacred herbs with materials from the bodies of Communist sympathizers who had met untimely deaths. These amulets became known for their effectiveness in breaking curses, bringing good fortune, and providing spiritual protection.

After disrobing in B.E. 2492 (1949 AD), Ajarn Pleng transitioned into teaching and became a school principal in Surin Province. His fame as a kalawat grew, and people sought him out for help with love, reversing hexes, and protection. His name became synonymous with powerful wicha, and he gained a reputation for being able to neutralize even the most potent spells.

Fame and Notable Events

Several events catapulted Ajarn Pleng to nationwide fame:

  • He survived a gangster's attempt to shoot him, demonstrating his kongkrapan skills when the bullet failed to pierce his skin.
  • During a bridge blessing ceremony at the Mae Nam Moon River, schools of fish miraculously leaped into his boat.
  • His spells and amulets were known for breaking hexes, such as one reported by Kom Chad Luek, where a man's love spell was successfully broken after wearing Ajarn Pleng's amulet.
  • He famously saved a student bitten by a cobra by reciting katha (sacred chants), neutralizing the venom before medical help arrived.

Ajarn Pleng’s spiritual prowess attracted many devotees, and he was regularly invited to temples to participate in amulet consecration ceremonies. His amulets, such as Khun Paen, Guman Thong, Takrut, and Rak Yom, are highly sought after for their efficacy in areas like wealth, charm, and protection.

Legacy and Passing

Ajarn Pleng passed away on February 16, B.E. 2552 (2009 AD) from pneumonia at the age of 87. His legacy lives on through his renowned disciples, such as Luang Phor Sawat Pumisaro, Ajarn Samrong Lakkhasorn, and Ajarn Wichai Maleehuan. His spiritual lineage continues to guide devotees, and his amulets remain highly revered for their ability to bring luck, protection, and prosperity.

Wicha as a Tool for Transformation

Ajarn Pleng believed that wicha could be used to change the course of one’s life, offering relief from misfortune and guiding individuals toward success. His practice of Phong Prai was always intended to help others, using spiritual forces to assist those in need, rather than causing harm.

His amulets are infused with Pee Prai (spirits of the deceased), which are believed to grant powerful effects like attracting wealth, offering protection, and enhancing personal magnetism. Though powerful, Ajarn Pleng emphasized that wicha must be used with compassion and mindfulness, as engaging in harmful deeds would diminish its effectiveness.

Conclusion

Ajarn Pleng Boonyuen’s legacy as a master of wicha and spiritual protector continues to thrive through his amulets, his disciples, and the countless stories of those who benefited from his extraordinary abilities. His life serves as a testament to the power of faith, wisdom, and wicha in transforming lives.
