Luang Phor Cher (Lp Cher) Wat Klang Bang Kaew
Biography of Luang Phor Cher (Lp Cher) Wat Klang Bang Kaew
Luang Phor Cher (Lp Cher), a highly revered monk from Wat Klang Bang Kaew, was born in B.E. 2468 (1925 AD). He entered monkhood at the age of 26 at Wat Klang Bang Kaew, where the respected Luang Phor Perm served as the abbot. As one of Luang Phor Perm’s closest disciples, Luang Phor Cher became deeply knowledgeable in Buddhist mindfulness and meditation practices. Under the guidance of Luang Phor Perm, he mastered the art of crafting the powerful Bia Gae amulets.
The skill of creating effective Bia Gae amulets was originally passed down from Luang Phor Boon to Luang Phor Perm, and finally to Luang Phor Cher. He was the only disciple to fully grasp and perfect all the sacred incantations and techniques required for making these potent amulets.
Following the passing of Luang Phor Perm, the villagers urged Luang Phor Cher to take on the role of abbot at Wat Klang Bang Kaew. However, he humbly declined and chose instead to serve as the vice-abbot. Despite his position, devotees from near and far continued to visit him daily, seeking his guidance and blessings. Many believed that Luang Phor Cher possessed great compassion and spiritual power, known as metta and baramee, which enhanced the effectiveness of the amulets he blessed.
Luang Phor Cher passed away on December 29th, B.E. 2552 (2009 AD), at the age of 84. He is regarded as one of Thailand’s greatest makers of Bia Gae amulets, with a lasting legacy of spiritual protection and power.
In addition to Bia Gae, Luang Phor Cher was also renowned for his Jindamanee powder, a special formula comprising over 30 different types of herbs and woods. The Jindamanee powder was believed to aid in recovery from illnesses, improve health, and attract loving-kindness (metta) to devotees.
Luang Phor Cher’s contributions to Thai amulet-making and his enduring spiritual presence have made him a highly respected figure in Thai Buddhist history.
