Luang Phor Liew Pannakamo (Lp Liew) Wat Rai Tang Thong

 

Luang Phor Liew Pannakamo, born on December 7, 1905, in Ban Nong Phong, Ratchaburi Province, Thailand, was a revered Buddhist monk renowned for his spiritual teachings and the creation of the Phaya Tao (Turtle) amulets. His parents, Teng Sae Tang and Noi Sae Tang, were farmers, and he was the youngest of five siblings. From an early age, he exhibited a profound interest in spirituality and traditional Thai magic (Wicha).

Early Life and Ordination

At 12, Luang Phor Liew left home to study under a Karen teacher, immersing himself in ancient magical practices. At 27, he was ordained as a monk at Wat Nong Pho, Ratchaburi Province, adopting the monastic name "Pannakamo." He furthered his studies under esteemed monks, including Luang Phor Yoon of Wat Ban Kong Yai, from whom he learned the sacred Phaya Tao Wicha.

Contributions and Teachings

Luang Phor Liew became the abbot of Wat Rai Tang Thong in Nakhon Pathom Province, transforming it into a center of spiritual learning and community development. He was instrumental in constructing schools, health centers, and other community facilities, reflecting his commitment to societal welfare.

In 1973, he consecrated his first Phaya Tao amulet, symbolizing longevity, prosperity, and protection. These amulets gained popularity for their reputed efficacy in overcoming obstacles and attracting wealth. Notably, during consecration ceremonies, witnesses reported the amulets exhibiting movements akin to swimming, enhancing their mystical reputation.

Unique Practices

Luang Phor Liew was known for practicing the "Kwai Sik" or Turtle Breathing Technique, demonstrating exceptional control over his bodily functions. He once allowed himself to be wrapped in plastic and buried without food or water for ten days, emerging alive and well, showcasing his mastery over this practice.

He continued his spiritual and community work until his passing on September 4, 2000, at the age of 94. His legacy endures through his teachings, the development projects he initiated, and the Phaya Tao amulets, which remain highly regarded among devotees and collectors.
