Luang Phor Nuam, or Phra Kru Kasem Khemakhun, was a highly revered monk in Thailand, particularly in Ayutthaya Province. He was the former abbot of Wat Klang Tha Ruea (also known as Wat Kla), located in Tha Ruea District, Ayutthaya Province. Renowned for his deep understanding of Buddhist teachings, sacred incantations, and compassion, LP Nuam was considered a spiritual figure of great significance during his lifetime.

Early Life and Ordination:

Luang Phor Nuam was born in B.E. 2448 (1905 AD) in Ayutthaya Province. From an early age, he displayed an affinity for spirituality and the Buddhist path, which led him to pursue ordination as a novice monk at a young age. After spending years in novicehood, LP Nuam was formally ordained as a monk at Wat Klang Tha Ruea, where he later became the abbot.

Spiritual Training:

LP Nuam was deeply committed to studying Dhamma (Buddhist teachings) and mastering Vipassana meditation. He studied under several highly regarded monks during his time and gained a wealth of spiritual knowledge, particularly in the area of Wicha (magic and sacred sciences). His devotion to the Dhamma and his commitment to practicing Buddhist virtues earned him the respect of his peers and the local community.

Among his teachers were some of the most revered monks of that era, and he inherited valuable knowledge on making sacred objects and amulets, which became famous for their efficacy. He became known for creating amulets that helped people in times of need, offering protection, prosperity, and spiritual blessings.

Contributions as Abbot of Wat Klang Tha Ruea:

As abbot of Wat Klang Tha Ruea, LP Nuam led the temple’s development and renovation efforts. He oversaw various projects aimed at restoring and expanding the temple's facilities, which drew greater numbers of followers and devotees to the temple. His leadership extended beyond just the material well-being of the temple; he also focused on the spiritual education of monks and novices, guiding them in their studies of the Dhamma and their practice of meditation.

During his tenure, LP Nuam created numerous sacred amulets that became widely known across Thailand for their power and protective qualities. Many devotees sought his blessings, believing his amulets brought them good fortune, protection from danger, and spiritual guidance.

Famous Amulets and Sacred Items:

Luang Phor Nuam was particularly known for his skill in creating powerful amulets that were believed to possess metta mahaniyom (loving-kindness), klaew klaad (protection from harm), and kongkrapan (invulnerability). His most famous amulets included:

1. Phra Somdej Amulets: Known for their strong protective power and the ability to attract positive energy and success.
2. Takrut: LP Nuam’s takruts were highly regarded for their protective abilities, particularly against accidents, misfortune, and harm.
3. Rian (Coins): His sacred coins were considered to provide blessings of wealth and prosperity and are still sought after by collectors today.

Reputation and Legacy:

LP Nuam’s reputation as a monk was deeply rooted in his commitment to both Dhamma practice and community service. He was known for his compassion, kindness, and dedication to helping others, whether through his teachings or the amulets and sacred objects he created. His knowledge of Buddhist rituals and his skill in consecrating powerful amulets brought him national recognition.

Luang Phor Nuam passed away in B.E. 2542 (1999 AD) at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of spiritual guidance, profound wisdom, and sacred objects that continue to be cherished by Buddhist devotees. His amulets remain popular and are highly valued among collectors and practitioners for their reputed protective and auspicious properties.

Today, Wat Klang Tha Ruea continues to be a place of pilgrimage for those who seek to pay respects to LP Nuam and to receive the blessings of his teachings and amulets. His contributions to Buddhism, both through his spiritual guidance and his sacred amulets, ensure that his name will be remembered for generations to come.
