Biography of Luang Phor Ruem (Luang Phor Lerm) of Wat Chukkacher, Chonburi


Early Life and Passion for Sacred Knowledge
Luang Phor Ruem, more commonly known as Luang Phor Lerm, was born in 2448 BE (1905) in Chonburi Province. Even before his ordination as a monk, he exhibited a profound interest in magic (Wicha) and sacred sciences. Driven by his passion, he traveled extensively across Thailand, visiting esteemed masters and temples to learn and collect sacred knowledge and materials.


Ordination and Spiritual Journey
At the age of 20, Luang Phor Lerm entered the monkhood and began his spiritual journey. His commitment to learning Wicha led him to study under many of the most revered masters of his time:

  1. Luang Phor Um of Wat Nong Krabok, Rayong

    • During his first rain retreat, he mastered the art of creating Metta cream, a sacred formula known for enhancing charm and goodwill. This Wicha was originally passed down by Luang Phor Thap of Wat Krabok Kueng Pueng, a renowned Metta cream expert.
  2. Luang Pu Tim of Wat Lahanrai, Rayong

    • Luang Phor Lerm visited Luang Pu Tim daily for nearly a year, absorbing extensive knowledge on Metta (loving-kindness) and wealth Wicha. Their collaboration deepened his mastery of these esoteric arts.
  3. Luang Phor Ee of Wat Sattahip, Chonburi

    • From this master of Palakit (protective talismans), he learned to craft and consecrate powerful protective items.
  4. Astronomy and Auspicious Timing

    • Luang Phor Lerm also studied astronomy to determine auspicious times for consecration ceremonies, ensuring the maximum potency of his holy items.

Avid Collector of Sacred Materials
Throughout his life, Luang Phor Lerm amassed a vast collection of sacred powders and materials from various temples and masters. His reputation as a trusted source for these materials made him highly sought after by fellow masters who relied on his collection for the creation of powerful amulets.


Creation of Somdej Lang Yant Nam Tao (BE 2538)
In BE 2538 (1995), sensing his time was near at the age of 90, Luang Phor Lerm decided to create a final and significant batch of amulets. For this batch of Somdej Lang Yant Nam Tao, he combined all the sacred powders and materials he had gathered over a lifetime, including:

  • Pinkish Gemstones: Gifted by Luang Pu Tim of Wat Lahanrai, these gemstones were believed to bring abundance to their possessors.
  • Holy Powders: Sourced from many great masters, making these amulets uniquely powerful.

The consecration ceremony for this batch was among the most intensive and precise rituals Luang Phor Lerm ever conducted, involving long hours of chanting and meditation.


Passing and Legacy
Shortly after the consecration of the Somdej Lang Yant Nam Tao, Luang Phor Lerm passed away peacefully in his temple at the age of 90. His passing marked the end of a remarkable life dedicated to the pursuit of spiritual knowledge and the service of his community.
