Wat Ta Ee, Buriram Province

Early Life and Ordination

Luang Pu Chuen Tiknyano was born in 1918, on a Friday in the 11th lunar month of the Year of the Horse, in Ban Hin Kong, Hin Kong District, Svay Si Sophon Province, Cambodia. His birth name was Chuen Si Sot, and he was the son of Mr. Chub Si Sot and Mrs. Pim Si Sot. He had seven siblings:

  1. Mr. Rio

  2. Mr. Pho

  3. Mr. Boon

  4. Mr. Koet

  5. Luang Pu Chuen

  6. Nang Yot

  7. Nang Yao

His family was engaged in farming, like most rural Cambodians of the time. From a young age, Luang Pu Chuen was known for his charitable nature, deep compassion, and kind-heartedness towards friends and relatives. He had a strong faith in Buddhism since childhood.

At the age of 15, he requested his parents' permission to ordain as a novice monk, which they accepted. He was ordained at a local temple in Cambodia, where he began his monastic studies. Later, at the age of 20, he fully ordained as a Buddhist monk, receiving the monastic name "Tiknyano".

Advanced Studies in Buddhist Teachings

As a young monk, Luang Pu Chuen devoted himself to studying Dhamma, Vinaya (monastic discipline), and sacred Buddhist chants. He was exceptionally gifted in learning and was able to memorize and recite the Patimokkha (Buddhist monastic code) within just one year—a rare accomplishment, as most monks required 5 to 10 years to master it.

He successfully passed the third level of the Dhamma examination in his third year of monkhood. After that, he embarked on a pilgrimage through Cambodia's forests and mountains, seeking to deepen his spiritual practice. During this time, he encountered many great masters, from whom he learned various forms of ancient Khmer mystical knowledge.

Mastery of Buddhist Magic and Mystical Arts

Teachers and Lineage

Luang Pu Chuen was a disciple of the renowned Khao Kulen lineage, an ancient Khmer tradition known for its high-level magic and sorcery. His first teachers were:

  • Luang Pu Euay

  • Luang Pu Dee Suwannadee

Both were grandmasters with profound psychic abilities, famous for their miraculous supernatural powers in Cambodia.

Advanced Spiritual Training and Meditation

Realizing that "Phra Wet Wittaya Khom" (a form of Khmer mysticism) could be used to protect Buddhism and help devotees, Luang Pu Chuen diligently studied its practices. He also trained in Vipassana meditation, enhancing his mental strength and supernatural abilities.

His teachers tested him rigorously until they were satisfied with his skills. Luang Pu Euay, in particular, entrusted him with all his sacred knowledge, ensuring that his spiritual and mystical lineage continued.

Later, after the passing of Luang Pu Euay, Luang Pu Chuen continued his pilgrimage across Cambodia, eventually training under Luang Pu Dee Suwannadee on Khao Kulen.
