Phra Somdej Ket Mongkol • Roon 2 (Second Batch) • BE2512 (1969) — Wat Pho Nimit, Bangkok • Nur Phong (Sacred Powder)
Main obverse — classic Somdej profile; rear inscribed with Ket Mongkol yant (gold-script motif).
Historical Significance(历史意涵)
Issued in BE2512 (1969 CE) at Wat Pho Nimit by Luang Phor Toon, this second-batch Somdej continues the line initiated under
Somdej Phra Buddhacarya Nuam (Wat Anong). Created during Bangkok’s late-1960s devotional revival, it supported temple works and communal protection through
Putthapisek empowerment.
Obverse — clear Somdej tiers; powder body with aged patina.
Contextual Insight:
LP Toon’s wicha (esoteric method) draws on powder lineages linked to LP Suk (Wat Pak Khlong Makham Thao) and LP Sod (Wat Paknam).
The Roon 2 program balances Metta (benevolence) and Klaew Klaad (evasion of harm), aligning with the auspicious theme of Ket Mongkol (“complete blessing”).
Temple of Origin & Master’s Discipline(寺院与法脉)
Wat Pho Nimit is noted for disciplined monastic practice and Somdej-styled sacred powder work. The tradition of Putthapisek (“consecration rite”)
and recitation cycles shape the restrained proportions and devotional function seen here.
Reverse — Ket Mongkol inscription; pressed grain and mature powder stratification visible.
Materials & Craftsmanship(用料与工艺)
| Material | Nur Phong (sacred powder) with classical blends such as Itthije, Patamang, Maharach; traces of lineage powders; auspicious herb mix. |
| Mold / Pim | Somdej Ket Mongkol, Roon 2 (1969); identifiable by rear Ket Mongkol yant and balanced stair-tier relief. |
| Consecration | Private empowerment cycles by LP Toon and close associates; emphasis on serenity, protection, and completeness. |
Side/detail — edges and compression marks consistent with hand-press techniques.
Spiritual Function & Doctrinal Purpose(功德与用途)
According to Thai Buddhist belief, this Somdej supports Klaew Klaad (evasion of danger), Metta Mahaniyom (charm & goodwill), and
Maha Lap (good fortune). Devotees wear it for steady progress, calm confidence, and protection.
Rarity & Collector Significance(稀有与收藏)
Assessed as collector-grade within late-1960s Somdej lines. Seek crisp Somdej contours, intact rear yant, and mature powder texture; examples with strong LP Toon provenance are increasingly scarce.
