Luang Pho Khao of Wat Chanpradittharam was a respected and virtuous monk known for his strict discipline and compassion. He was highly revered by the local community in the Thonburi (west Bangkok) area and was also knowledgeable in Buddhist mantra recitation and traditional sacred object creation.

During the 1970s—an era when amulet-making flourished in Thailand—Wat Chanpradittharam initiated the production of its first official amulet batch under the direction and spiritual supervision of Luang Pho Khao to continue the legacy of respected Bangkok monks.

3. Sacred Materials Used

The Phra Somdej Luang Pho Khao B.E. 2519 amulets were made of Phong Phutthakhun (sacred powder) enriched with highly revered elements, including:

  • Broken fragments of ancient Somdej amulets from other temples

  • 108 sacred herbs and dried flower pollen from previous blessing ceremonies

  • Ashes from incense used in offerings to the Triple Gem

  • Powder from Itthijay and Maharaj mantras, prepared according to ancient scriptures

  • Sacred earth collected from nine holy Buddhist sites in Thailand

The sacred powder was mixed while Pali suttas such as the 30 Perfections (Barami 30 Thāt) and Itthipiso chant were recited continuously by the monastic community.

4. Consecration Ceremony

The consecration ceremony of the amulet took place in B.E. 2519 at the ordination hall of Wat Chanpradittharam and was considered a major spiritual event. Several renowned monks of the era joined in blessing the amulets, including:

  • Luang Pu Toh, Wat Pradoochimpee

  • Luang Pho Seng, Wat Kalayanamit

  • Luang Pho Thoong Yu, Wat Mai Nong Pha Ong

  • Luang Pho Mui, Wat Don Rai

  • Luang Pho Thurian, Wat Pho Nimit

  • Luang Pho Duangdee, Wat Phraya Tikaram (as recorded in local oral tradition)

  • Presided over by Phra Kru Pradit Thammanuwat, then abbot of Wat Chanpradittharam

The ceremony was held on the 15th waxing day of the 12th lunar month (considered highly auspicious), with overnight chanting and solo empowerment sessions performed by spiritually advanced monks.
