Historical Background & Purpose of Creation

In the early BE2480s (c. 1937 CE), during a period of social and economic uncertainty,
Archan Kong Lim of Wat Noi, Chonburi, created a series of Phra Phutta Chinnaraj “Phra Lor” cast-metal amulets.
His intention was twofold: to raise funds for the temple’s ongoing needs, and to provide lay devotees with a compact, wearable representation of the
auspicious Phra Phuttha Chinnarat image – long celebrated in Thai tradition for its elegance, authority and protective power.

These pieces were cast in Loha Pasom (sacred mixed metal) and designed as small Lor-type amulets suitable for daily wear.
They embody the classical belief that “wearing Chinnarat is like carrying victorious wisdom and noble charisma on one’s body”,
while also anchoring faith in the lineage and meditative discipline of Archan Kong Lim.

Temple of Origin & Archan Kong Lim’s Lineage

Wat Noi, Chonburi, is historically associated with meditation-oriented practice and protective wicha in the eastern coastal region.
Archan Kong Lim (see full biography linked above) was known for his disciplined practice, his strict observance of monastic rules,
and his careful, methodical approach to amulet creation. He preferred “few but focused” batches –
ensuring that each consecration was conducted with proper preparation, mantra recitation, and mental composure.

For collectors, this BE2480 Phra Lor Pim Phra Phutta Chinnaraj is an important physical record of his work: a cast-metal piece from the pre-war era,
representing both the local Chonburi devotional context and the wider Thai reverence for the Chinnarat image.

Materials & Craftsmanship (Loha Pasom Composition)

Overall Type Phra Lor – a small cast-metal (Lor) Buddha amulet, designed for personal wear. This BE2480 batch features Chinnarat iconography in compact form,
combining elegance with practical durability for everyday use.
Material Nur Loha Pasom, a sacred mixed-metal alloy traditionally blended from bronze, copper, small portions of silver and traces of gold,
together with ritual scrap metals from old Buddha images and temple implements. This blend is believed to enhance conductivity of blessing and long-term durability.
Front Design Chinnarat-style Buddha seated in a dignified posture, often with gentle flame motifs around the head and a structured base.
Good examples show balanced proportions, crisp facial features and natural metal “flow lines” from the casting process.
Casting & Finish Traditional sand or clay mold casting, followed by careful trimming of sprues and light hand-finishing.
Over decades, the surface develops a soft, matte patina with micro-pitting and colour variation –
signs that serious collectors look for when distinguishing genuine early pieces from later copies or recasts.

Consecration & Spiritual Function

The BE2480 Phra Lor Chinnaraj batch was solemnly consecrated at Wat Noi, with
Archan Kong Lim leading the chanting and meditation. Traditional accounts describe:

  • Recitation of key protective suttas and Chinnarat-related katha to invoke the qualities of wisdom, victory and fearlessness.
  • Multiple rounds of blessing over the finished cast pieces, rather than a single brief rite, reflecting his “slow and thorough” style.
  • Selection of auspicious dates and times based on Thai astrological practice to maximise the amulets’ protective and supportive influence.

In Thai belief, this type of Chinnaraj Loha Pasom is particularly valued for:

  • Protection – safeguarding the wearer from danger, misfortune and ill-will.
  • Prosperity & Opportunity – supporting business, career and financial stability.
  • Charisma & Respect – enhancing personal presence, especially in leadership or client-facing roles.
  • Merit & Mindfulness – acting as a physical reminder of the Buddha’s qualities, encouraging ethical conduct and reflection.

Rarity, Certification & Collector Interest

Being a pre-war BE2480 cast-metal batch, original pieces from Archan Kong Lim’s Wat Noi Chinnaraj series are no longer easily found in strong condition.
Many surviving examples show heavy wear or surface smoothing from decades of real-world use.

The present piece is further distinguished by a Standard Thai amulet association certificate,
which provides an independent opinion on authenticity and attribution. For serious collectors,
this combination of clear features, natural patina, and recognised certification makes it a
highly desirable reference specimen for the study of eastern-region Chinnaraj Lor amulets.
