Emerald Buddha, 25th Buddhist Century (1957)

The Emerald Buddha of the 25th Buddhist Century, crafted in 1957, features a green hue and a lap width of 5 inches. This revered set of Buddha images includes items issued by prominent institutes such as the Buddha Ratana Prathip Institute, Buddha Thewaprathip Institute, Buddha Nemit Prathip Institute, and Buddha Uppatham Institute, among others.


Materials and Variants

The Emerald Buddha images in this series were produced using high-quality materials, including:

  1. Imported Glass: Crafted from premium glass sourced internationally, notably from Japan and India.
  2. Domestic Production: Locally produced variants, which are equally popular and sought after by devotees.

Consecration Ceremony

This set of Emerald Buddha images underwent a grand consecration ceremony, considered one of the most significant of its time. The event brought together 108 of the most revered monks from across Thailand, including:

Availability and Legacy

Given the extensive production of these Emerald Buddha images, many were distributed by both the central government and individual temples. Some of the images remained available for rent following the ceremony, while others were consecrated in subsequent ceremonies in the years following 1957. These images, whether directly from the initial consecration or later ceremonies, continue to hold immense spiritual value and are highly sought after by collectors and devotees alike.
