Temple history
Wat Khlong Madan , or officially known as Wat Amphanwan. Located in Song Phi Nong Subdistrict, Song Phi Nong District, Suphan Buri Province.It is an ancient temple located by the Khlong Madan canal, which is very important and highly revered by the local people.
History and Significance
- Original name and origin: This is an ancient temple with no clear evidence of its construction date. In the past, a canal ran in front of the temple, and it was densely covered with star fruit trees, so the villagers called it “Wat Khlong Madan” (Star Fruit Canal Temple).
- Luang Pho Nong Inthasuwan: A renowned former abbot, he was an important Buddhist master and a fellow disciple of Luang Pho Niam of Wat Noi, as well as an older disciple of Luang Pho Pan of Wat Bang Nom Kho.
- Practices: Luang Pho Nong was a monk who strictly adhered to Buddhist precepts, ate a vegetarian diet throughout his life, did not handle money, and practiced Vipassanā meditation diligently, earning the respect of people from all over. He passed away on December 25, 1934.
