Luang Phor Yid • Wat Chulamani, Samut Songkhram • Guardian-King of the North

Historical Significance

Issued in BE 2532 (1989 CE) at Wat Chulamani by Luang Phor Yid, this Roon Rae (first edition) marks the opening of a celebrated guardian series. The figure of Taowesuwan—lord of the North in the Buddhist cosmology—symbolizes ordered protection and stewardship. Consecrated through Putthapisek (empowerment rite), these early casts reflect the late-20th-century resurgence of guardian imagery for community welfare and livelihood security.

Contextual Insight: Late 2520s–2530s Wat Chulamani castings followed disciplined kan sek (consecration sequence) with repeated katha cycles. Early Roon Rae Taowesuwan are recognized for crisp guardian regalia, robust base structure, and alloy surfaces that mature to a uniform, pleasing tonality.

Thaprachan Certificate

Temple of Origin & Master’s Discipline

Wat Chulamani (Samut Songkhram) under LP Yid emphasized methodical ritual and faithful iconography. The working ethos—bridging sati (mindful care) and samrit (proportional discipline)—is evident in the controlled stance, measured regalia, and confident line quality of this first edition.

Base/detail — alloy density and gate finishing lines consistent with Roon Rae Nawaloha practice.

Materials & Craftsmanship

Material Nur Nawaloha (multi-metal sacred alloy); stable, even patination
Mold / Pim Early Roon Rae guardian form; sharp crown and weapon relief; robust base lip
Consecration Multi-stage Putthapisek with repeated katha and candle-light blessings (kan sek)

Obverse close — clear facial definition and regalia; confident line quality.

Spiritual Function & Doctrinal Purpose

According to Thai Buddhist belief, Taowesuwan supports Klaew Klaad (aversion of misfortune), Metta Mahaniyom (social harmony), and Maha Lap (gain and auspicious opportunity). Devotees wear guardian forms for orderly protection over household and enterprise.

Rarity & Collector Significance

Assessed as collector-grade within LP Yid’s guardian series. First-edition (Roon Rae) status, Nawaloha alloy, and intact casting details are the key tells sought by specialists. Well-documented examples maintain strong market confidence for long-term collections.
