Description

**SOLD**

Phra Sankajai • Nur Phong Bailan • BE 2500–2515

Wat Kositaram, Chainat • Luang Phor Kuay (Chudtintaro) • Sacred Bailan Powder

Main obverse — classic Sankajai form in deep black Phong Bailan (burnt palm-leaf scripture powder).

Historical Significance

Produced circa BE 2500–2515 (1957–1972 CE) at Wat Kositaram, Chainat by Luang Phor Kuay Chudtintaro, this Sankajai series reflects the apex of LP Kuay’s contemplative practice and compassionate service.
Empowered through Putthapisek (ritual consecration) for devotees’ welfare and temple support, the amulets are prized for calm confidence, prosperity, and protection (Klaew Klaad).

Front detail — joyful Sankajai visage; compressed powder grain and gentle age pitting.

Contextual Insight:
Sankajai (Sangkachai) symbolizes wisdom, contentment, and sufficiency. In LP Kuay’s lineage, the blend of Metta Mahaniyom (endearing charm) and Maha Lap (good fortune) is traditionally paired with Klaew Klaad (safe passage), supporting steady, benevolent success.

Temple of Origin & Master’s Discipline

Wat Kositaram is renowned for LP Kuay’s strict meditative training and compassionate rites. His wicha emphasized quiet endurance,
truthful speech, and the protective discipline of Kongkrapan Chatri (“invulnerability”), reflected in both the materials and restrained iconography.

Angle B — bailan density and edge compression marks from hand-press molding.

Materials & Craftsmanship

Material Nur Phong Bailan — cremated palm-leaf scriptures (bailan) blended with Phong Puttakun, incense soot, and sacred herbal binders.
Mold / Pim Sankajai seated; rounded torso, serene smile; small-format wearable casts for daily devotion.
Consecration Multi-phase Putthapisek; extended Metta and protective chant cycles; occasional joint rites with regional masters.

Spiritual Function & Doctrinal Purpose

Traditionally believed to support Metta Mahaniyom (endearing charm), Maha Lap (prosperity), Klaew Klaad (safety/near-miss protection), and Baramee (inner virtue and resolve).
Favoured by traders, civil servants, and practitioners seeking steady progress with a calm heart.

Rarity & Collector Significance

Assessed as rare to collector-grade, especially early casts (BE 2500–2505). Bailan-rich matrices age with micro-cracks and pits; well-preserved surfaces and crisp features are scarce.
Recognized across Thai collector circles; LP Kuay’s Sankajai series remains a benchmark for compassionate, protective wicha.
