History of the Making of Phra Nang Phaya Nur Phong Bailan – B.E. 2500

Created by Luang Phor Kuay (LP Kuay), Wat Kositaram, Chai Nat Province

1. Historical Background

In B.E. 2500 (1957), during the celebration of the 25th Buddhist Century, many revered monks across Thailand created batches of sacred amulets to mark this significant religious milestone.

Among them, Luang Phor Kuay Chudtintaro of Wat Kositaram in Chai Nat Province initiated the creation of Phra Nang Phaya Nur Phong Bailan, commonly known among devotees as the “Queen of Amulets” due to its symbolic significance.

Luang Phor Kuay was known for his profound mastery in both Dhamma practice and esoteric sciences (Wicha). His amulets are deeply respected for their spiritual potency, especially in the areas of protection and personal fortune.

2. Purpose of Creation

The objectives for creating the Phra Nang Phaya Nur Phong Bailan amulet were:

  • To commemorate the auspicious occasion of the 25th Buddhist Century.

  • To fund the renovation and expansion projects of Wat Kositaram, including the construction of new religious structures and support for the monastic community.

  • To propagate the Dhamma by creating sacred objects that would continuously remind devotees of Buddhist principles.

  • To provide laypeople with effective sacred items for personal protection, luck, and spiritual advancement.

3. Sacred Materials and Composition

The amulet was crafted meticulously from the highly sacred Nur Phong Bailan, which consists of:

  • Burnt palm-leaf scriptures (Bailan): Symbolizing the wisdom and teachings of ancient Buddhist knowledge.

  • Sacred powders gathered from various holy sites and sacred ceremonies.

  • Powdered fragments of ancient amulets to integrate accumulated spiritual energy.

  • Blessed herbs and relic materials mixed with natural resins for binding.

This combination created amulets with a dark brown to black color, a slightly rough surface, and a texture rich with sacred vibrations.

4. Design and Features

The Phra Nang Phaya Nur Phong Bailan amulets are recognized for:

  • Triangular Shape: Symbolizing stability, strength, and ascension towards enlightenment.

  • Seated Buddha Image: Typically in the meditation posture, representing peace, mindfulness, and compassion.

  • Fine Handcrafted Details: Demonstrating the high craftsmanship and sacred intentions behind the molding.

Each amulet was carefully molded, sometimes showing slight differences (pim variations) due to handmade pressing techniques.

5. Consecration and Ritual Blessing

The consecration ceremony (Phutthaphisek) involved:

  • Luang Phor Kuay personally conducting blessing rituals with deep meditation (Samadhi) and chanting of protective parittas.

  • Recitation of sacred mantras such as the Itthipiso Katha and Chinabanchon Katha to empower the amulets with Metta (loving-kindness) and protective energies.

  • Participation of other respected monks from nearby provinces who contributed to the spiritual empowerment process.

The ceremony was meticulously organized to ensure the amulets were fully imbued with sacred potency.

6. Spiritual Benefits and Beliefs

Devotees believe the Phra Nang Phaya Nur Phong Bailan amulet offers a wide range of spiritual benefits:
