Phra Somdej Pim 3 Chan Nur Din BE2521 – Wat Ketchaiyo

The Phra Somdej Pim 3 Chan Nur Din BE2521 from Wat Ketchaiyo Worawihan, Ang Thong Province, is a sacred continuation of the Somdej tradition. Created in 1978 (B.E. 2521), this batch was consecrated to honor Somdej Phra Phutthachan Toh’s legacy while supporting the temple’s restoration and propagation of the Dhamma.

Phra Somdej Pim 3 Chan Nur Din, Wat Ketchaiyo, B.E. 2521 – rare sacred clay Somdej series.

History of Phra Somdej Pim 3 Chan BE2521

Wat Ketchaiyo has been historically tied to Somdej Phra Phutthachan Toh Prommarangsi, the great master behind the original Somdej amulets. In 1978 (B.E. 2521), the temple created a special batch of Phra Somdej Pim 3 Chan to commemorate this sacred legacy, raise temple funds, and distribute protective amulets to devotees.

Purposes of the Making

  • Continue the Somdej tradition of Wat Ketchaiyo.
  • Raise funds for temple restoration, particularly the viharn and ubosot.
  • Provide sacred protection amulets to patrons and devotees.

Design and Features

  • Depicts the Buddha seated in meditation on a three-tiered base (3 Chan).
  • Framed in a rectangular Somdej mold, known as Pim Sam Chan.
  • Stylistically aligned with Wat Ketchaiyo molds, with distinctive proportions.

Material (Nur Din)

  • Made from sacred clay (Nur Din) mixed with holy temple soil.
  • Infused with incense ash, pollen, and relic dust from Buddhist ceremonies.
  • Some batches contained powdered fragments of older Somdej amulets.

Blessing and Consecration

The consecration ceremony took place in B.E. 2521 at Wat Ketchaiyo, joined by senior monks from Ang Thong and nearby provinces. Chanting of protective katha, meditation, and water-blessing rituals imbued the amulets with spiritual power.
