Biography

Luang Phor Puek was born on August 12, 1869 (B.E. 2412) in Samut Prakan Province, Thailand. At the age of 13, he was ordained as a novice monk at Wat King Kaew, where he began his studies in Buddhist teachings and basic magical knowledge under the guidance of the abbot, Pra Ajarn Im. After two years, he disrobed to assist his family with household duties. At 18, he served in the Royal Thai Navy for two years. Upon completing his military service, he returned to Wat King Kaew and was fully ordained as a monk at the age of 20.

Monastic Career and Leadership

Demonstrating dedication and leadership, Luang Phor Puek was appointed abbot of Wat King Kaew at the age of 30. He played a pivotal role in the temple’s development, overseeing various construction projects and community initiatives. His leadership extended beyond the temple, as he was also appointed as the Arch-Bishop of Samut Prakarn and held the status of Upachaya monk.

Spiritual Training and Contributions

Luang Phor Puek studied under the esteemed Luang Phor Tong of Wat Rachayotya, who was a disciple of the renowned Somdej Phra Buddhacharn Toh. Through this lineage, he gained profound knowledge in Buddhist teachings and sacred incantations. In 1922 (B.E. 2465), he consecrated his first batch of Phra Somdej amulets, which were highly regarded for their spiritual efficacy. The funds raised from these amulets were utilized for community development, including the construction of schools and the restoration of temples.

Legacy and Passing

Luang Phor Puek passed away on March 29, 1958 (B.E. 2501), at the age of 89, after 69 years in monkhood. His contributions to Buddhism and the community have left a lasting legacy, and his amulets continue to be revered by devotees for their believed protective and benevolent properties.
